Lakehead University research ranked first in Canada

Lakehead is ranked number one in Canada for research in the category of undergraduate universities by Re$earch Infosource.

Lakehead University names new VP of Research and Innovation

Lakehead President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Brian J.R. Stevenson is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrew P. Dean as the University’s new Vice-President, Research and Innovation.

Dr. Dean has been interim vice-president since July 1, 2014. He is thrilled to accept this position and excited to grow the University’s research profile around the world.

Building on the recommendations from the Provost’s Task Force on the Academic Structure and Governance at the Orillia Campus, President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Brian Stevenson announced a new title and new responsibilities for Dean & Vice-Provost (Orillia campus) Dr. Kim Fedderson.

Lakehead announces four new Canada Research Chairs

Lakehead University is receiving $2 million to support four new Canada Research Chairs whose important research and work includes the fields of green chemicals, Indigenous mental health, fisheries, and human diversity.

Lakehead’s new CRCs are all Tier 2 researchers:

Dr. Pedram Fatehi – Chair in Green Chemicals and Processes
Dr. Christopher Mushquash – Chair in Indigenous Mental Health and Addiction
Dr. Michael Rennie – Chair in Freshwater Ecology and Fisheries
Dr. Matthew Tocheri – Chair in Human Origins
